DC~ I am glad to see that you are moving forward and challenging the abilities that you have developed thus far. It is my opinion that you are developing a better understanding of how to construct and engrave your scrolls. However I believe there are a few open areas that you have neglected. With a little extra attention to the integrity, shape and length of the leaves you engrave, you can fill in these open areas that beg to be filled. I know that you will continue to improve the overall appeal to your designs as you continue to stretch this aspect of your engraving. DC~ if you are interested in having a little more detailed and constructive critique and if you would not be offended by such, it would be my pleasure to do so.

DC~ Let's start with the silver overlays. To help me, would you please post the original line drawing of these shapes or email them to me. When you do this will you also state the measured dimensions? After we have finished discussing this portion we'll then address the Free Mason symbol.

1st problem, I did this buckle when I was in Amarillo. All of my drawings etc. are there. I am back in Austin. I might can get my wife to send them to me. I used a photo as a guide. I used Photoshop to tweek it.

I hope that we can continue without them until I can get them here.

The fellow that I built the buckle for is a Mason. I checked his card. He is in a lodge in N. Carolina. I wasn't real comfortable with doing it, I have a friend that is a Mason and he advised me to check his card and it would be okay.

I will get those posted later today or tomorrow. The feller is bring the buckle back to me to get the measurements.

Do you want the measurements for the "ears" and the Masonic symbol?

I will also give you the measurements of the buckle itself.

Sorry I haven't gotten the information as of yet. It is not a lack of interest, just waiting on the owner to bring the buckle back for measurement.

TLD, thanks for posting the new buckle. It looks nice. I was hoping that you could tell me the general dimensions of the buckle since it must be fresh in your mind. Could you redraw your design? If you do not remember the dimensions could you have the customer measure them and let you know? Thanks for posting.

DC~ The reason I asked for the original line drawing and
the dimensions on the overlaid silver was because I was
going to replicate one side to show you precisely how to
more completely fill in and balance your scrolls with
engraving. In this way I could see and feel exactly what
you were looking at and working with. I will have time to
do this some time at the end of next week, so if you can
get those to me then, that would be great. If not, I will
proceed to guestimate and do the best I can.

Howdy Folks,

Sorry about the delay on the measurements. Two problems, excuses! First I couldn't get the buckle back from the owner, he sent it to his uncle. Second, I have just come off of some 19 hour days at the jobsite. I am going to try to fudge on the measurements with photo shop. The buckle is for a 1-1/2" belt so if I get the opening sized to 1-1/2" in the photo the other items should be in proportion(?). If that is true, I will have the measurements this evening.

Greg, I really appreciate this help, please don't take my lack of response as a lack of interest, it is NOT. I have just been extremely busy on my real job and the owner did not do what I asked of him.

DC~ Not a problem what so ever. I thought I was going to be able to get to it last week myself. I am leaving for a couple of days and when I get back I will apply myself to this project. I am also looking forward to doing it as well.
