This is a bit I built for my boss. There are some mistakes, but for the most part I am happy with it. Please tell me what you think.
Thanks

I REALLY like the shape you came up with for the cheeks and the way you overlayed and beveled them. An engraved hood always makes for a nice touch and really sets the bit off. When I put spots on my cheeks, I drill all my holes and make a few extra spots (and don't worry about centering the wire on the back of the spot)- then when I put them on the bit, I put one in the hole and rotate it around until it lines up and leaves a uniform space(if it don't work,I try another, and another, etc till I find one that works). Seems if my hole in the cheek are perfectly placed, then your spots have to be perfect as well.
Did you cut out the brand out or cut a hole in the cheek and weld the brand in?
Overall, beautifull bit.

I try to do the same thing with the spots, but I still didn't get them very even. I cut the brand out , then welded it in the hole in the cheek. I've tried to cut those out with my mill, but have never had very good luck. This way worked pretty good. I beveled the edge to try and make it look a little more like an inlay. I have had a hard time with my inlays in the past, and have'nt got up the courage to try one in a while. Thanks for the comments. It is nice of you all to take the time.

Jim,
Nice looking bit. How long are the cheeks? I'm always curious about dimensions.

Larry, I don't know off the top of my head. I'll have to measure it.

Larry,
I measured mt Santa Barbra pattern. It is 8" long, and from the headstall ring to the center of the mouth piece, it is 2 1/2" .

Thanks Jim. Those are the same measurements I use most of the time.
