I just wanted to give all attending an update. The local VFW, which is just across the street from the spur conference does have RV hookups. The hookups are $15 per day and they include water and electric. Sorry, there is no sewer, but for all interested they are available. Also, there is a tentative schedule posted on here and so far there is only one change. The Friday morning demonstrations with Mike Pardue have been cancelled. He will not be able to join us, so if any of you want to fill in for him please let me know.

Thanks,

George Blackwood

A new demonstrater not listed will be Tom Balding. Tom will be doing a talk and demonstration on welding. He is one of the best out there and I'm sure you will learn some great tips on how to get those perfect welds we all look for.

Be sure and contact George if you would like to demo buckle making.

If you are looking for a room I booked one through Exredia for $40 a night at Super 8 Motel in McKinney, TX.

Michael, if you are looking for a really good tutorial on lettering and such I would highly recommend "Easy Computer Lettering" by Sam Alfano. On a side note he uses a program called Coral Draw which is really good for layouts and you should be able to find a older copy cheap on ebay or somewhere like that. I hope that helps.

The handforging of a spade mouth piece demo has been replaced with the welding demo with Tom Balding. I will be glad to talk to anyone about forging a spade mouth piece but I thought the group would get a lot more important info that they could take home and use with Tom's demo and lecture. Also there has been a lot of talk lately about forming some type of group and maybe on Sunday morning we could discuss that instead of the talk on building a Mona Lisa mouth piece since we don't have anyone lined up for that. What does everyone think about that possibility? Since Mike can't do the buckle and concho demos we thought we might have something on high and low temp soldering . Let George know if you would like to share your knowledge and do this demo. We need your help to make this conference successful.

Well the conference is getting closer and if any of you have questions now is the time to ask. Hope you have your travel plans made by now. Be sure and bring some eye protection for the demos that will be in the shop where there will be any power tools used.

I know it is a little late, but I am flying into Dallas at 6:56 on Thurs. and flying back out Sunday night at 6:20 pm. If anyone needs a ride back and forth from the airport at that time or around then, I have a rental. You can give me a call I will be home all morning and I will check my messages before I leave the Dallas airport. cell: 208-940-0101 Home: 208-359-5860
